Don't know about a larger tank, I use another solution. I carry two 1-liter fuel bottles so I can add about 25 miles between fuel stops. I purchased them in a sporting goods department, they're normally used to carry fuel for a camping stove but work just fine for gasoline. Lots of Sportster riders use these because the Sporty has an even smaller tank than the Savage.
Another solution is to get new friends who ride Sportsters, they have to stop at least as often as you.
